About Maki-e Lacquerware
Maki-e is a decorative lacquerware technique in which gold, silver, or metallic powders are sprinkled onto wet lacquer to form intricate motifs. Developed in Japan over 1,000 years ago, it is considered one of the most refined expressions of urushi art, requiring extraordinary skill and patience.
